Santa Fe National Forest – 10 Year Wildfire History

From 2014-2023 — Fires over 1,000 acres

Updated November 23, 2024

Notes–

1) This chart originally included the decade from 2013-2022. In order to keep it up-to-date, it was changed to 2014-2023. This greatly affected the totals however, and decreased the total for acres burned by all other causes than ignitions by the US Forest Service.

2) This chart only considers actual acres burned. It does not take into account any differences in the time required for the Forest Service to suppress fires due to the nature of differing fire ignitions. For example, it’s possible that a lightening strike fire could be suppressed more quickly than an escaped broadcast prescribed burn.
